GDP of Germany and East Timor

GDP: 3,346,702 million US dollars
GDP per captia : $40,873/year

I chose Germany for the nation because it is a wealthy nation. Germany has a high GDP and a high GDP per captia also. The average person makes $40,873 per year that is enough to survive and enjoy life and culture. However, the GDP per captia is low compared to the nation's GDP. To be specific Germany's GDP ranking is 4th place and it's GDP per captia is 14th place. I don't know exactly why this situation is happening but I guess that it's happening because the money of the whole GDP is divided by the whole population of the nation and that means that it includes the people that don't earn money also. So it might be that actually German workers earn a lot of money. Anyways, it is sure that Germany has a strong economy and it would keep that for a long time.

GDP: 556 million US dollars
GDP per captia : $499/year

I chose East Timor for the representive of the poor nations because it is a unstable nation that is new to the international world and it's economy is weak the GDP and GDP per capita shows this because the ranking of the GDP of East Timor is 176th place and it's ranking for GDP per capita is 166th place. These kind of information shows that East Timor is a poor country without a lot of power. This is because East Timor needs more time to become completely independent from Indonesia and it needs more technology to follow the market of the 21st century. East Timor doesn't have a strong economy now, but it has many natural resources to use so I would say that East Timor is a nation that has a brighter tommorow then today.

  1. Jay,

This is a really great blog post. I really liked your reasons for how East Timor could improve its GDP (more time for complete independence). Your blog is shaping up very nicely. Great work!!
