The Effects of War

1. Rations of Supplies

The basic idea of a ration is about having a limited amount of food or supplies that people can buy during a week. This was started during the 1940's becasue the whole world was using a lot of supplies in the war and people were suffering from shortages of food and supplies. This Rations made sure that everybody had the same share. During the war times people had to give over coupons or money to buy things. However, the point that made rationing uncomfortable was that if one used over the limit, he or she couldn't buy more of the food that was used.  There are many records that some people traded their coupons to buy another kind of coupon for another kind of food. In the book, rations comes out in the part that when Call goes to the captains house and drinks canned milk that was rationed by the captain.

2. D-Day < The Normandy Landings>
The D-Day took place in June 6th on the year of 1944. The purpose of the D-Day was to put as many as Allied soldiers within Europe as possible to defeat the Germans. However, the cost was high. Over 9,000 Allied soldiers were killed or injured during the Normany landings. Even though the cost was high the landings turned out to be successful. In the novel, the charecters get excited about the news of the Landings at the Normandy but, only Lousie was careless about the landings because Call wasn't involved with the landings.

3. The GI Bill
The GI Bill was a bill that would benefit soldiers that fought in WW2 to go to college for free without any charge and also it benefited the soldiers to go be free from unenployment also. The bill's original name was the Servicemen's Readjustment Act. Presdient F.D Roosevelt was the person to sign the bill at 1944. The bill was intented to help all veteran soldiers that fought for the nation. The soldiers that fought in the war lost a lot of time because of the fighting and had to sacrifice many other benefits for the nation so the GI Bill could be called as a thank you gift from the nation to the veteran soldiers. The GI Bill affects Call who is a veteran soldier.

My solution for Option 2

In the novel 'Jacob who I Loved' Louise, Call, and the captain has problems with the cats that they can't handle. The cats are too expesive to keep and people wouldn't like the cats because they are too noisy and annoying. This makes them to come to a conclusion that they have to get rid of the cats some way. Usually, normal people have enough of buisness that they don't need any more partners. However, that isn't always applied to all people. Some people in the world are lonely and they want some company to have fun with. To be specific old people without any kids are those people and in some cases poeple that are depressed need that kind of company also. In these cases, animals could be a good solution to give those poeple company and make them happy and pleased. Cats could be good animals for them because they are lovely and aren't that active like dogs and they wouldn't bark like dogs. Cats also doesn't need walks differently with dogs so people could easily afford cats. Old people would prefer cats more than other animals so they would easily accpet those cats if I would sell the cats to the old people. It would be good for me because I could earn both money and could get rid of a money eating monster.

GDP of Germany and East Timor

GDP: 3,346,702 million US dollars
GDP per captia : $40,873/year

I chose Germany for the nation because it is a wealthy nation. Germany has a high GDP and a high GDP per captia also. The average person makes $40,873 per year that is enough to survive and enjoy life and culture. However, the GDP per captia is low compared to the nation's GDP. To be specific Germany's GDP ranking is 4th place and it's GDP per captia is 14th place. I don't know exactly why this situation is happening but I guess that it's happening because the money of the whole GDP is divided by the whole population of the nation and that means that it includes the people that don't earn money also. So it might be that actually German workers earn a lot of money. Anyways, it is sure that Germany has a strong economy and it would keep that for a long time.

GDP: 556 million US dollars
GDP per captia : $499/year

I chose East Timor for the representive of the poor nations because it is a unstable nation that is new to the international world and it's economy is weak the GDP and GDP per capita shows this because the ranking of the GDP of East Timor is 176th place and it's ranking for GDP per capita is 166th place. These kind of information shows that East Timor is a poor country without a lot of power. This is because East Timor needs more time to become completely independent from Indonesia and it needs more technology to follow the market of the 21st century. East Timor doesn't have a strong economy now, but it has many natural resources to use so I would say that East Timor is a nation that has a brighter tommorow then today.

Conflict

In this image a woman and man is argueing about something. Both the man and woman seems mad and the man is showing his emotion by body action. In this case, it is conflict between charecter and charecter because two people are having conflict.

In this picture a man is saving a woman from the deep water due to the flood. A flood is a natural disaster that gives a lot of damage to people. People lose their property due to the flood and if matters are serious people can end up losing their lives during a natural disaster. This picture shows conflict between natural and charecters because the water represents the natural and the people represent the charecters.

This is picture of a old woman that is homeless and begging for money. This picture may look funny but it's actually serious becasue all these homeless people are made because of the structure of our society that only wants competing with each other. Therefore, this photo is showing conflict between the society and charecter.
